🌱 Humble Beginnings
Born and raised in Mukono, Uganda, Sarah had always been passionate about welcoming people and making them feel at home. After completing her diploma in tourism and hospitality, job opportunities felt few and far between. “I knew I had the skills, but I needed a bridge to the right opportunity,” Sarah recalls.
That bridge came in the form of Phynx Careers.
🔍 Finding the Right Path
After attending a Phynx Careers webinar about international internships, Sarah applied for the Hospitality Internship Program. Through mentorship sessions and interview coaching, she gained the confidence and clarity she needed.
“I didn’t just get a placement — I received career guidance, resume support, and encouragement I never knew I needed,” she says.
🏨 The Dubai Experience
Within 3 months, Sarah was accepted into a 6-month internship at a 4-star hotel in Dubai. It was her first time on a plane — and her first time leaving Uganda.
In Dubai, she trained in guest services, front desk operations, and event coordination, quickly impressing her supervisors with her work ethic and warmth. Her internship was extended into a full-time job offer, and today, Sarah is an Assistant Guest Relations Manager.
